Reality: Stroke is largely preventable by addressing various vascular risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, Atrial fibrillation or irregular heart rhythm, high cholesterol levels, smoking etc

Reality: upto 30% of strokes occur in young patients and many of them are caused by "traditional risk factors" like high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking etc.

Stroke thrombectomy is a powerful treatment for stroke and can offer very good benefits. The time window for these patients is 24 hours or more sometimes

Reality: IV tPA the clot busting medication has a 1-3% chance of significant bleeding in the brain

Reality: The benefits offered by these interventions far more outweigh the complications.


A well trained Stroke clinician can carefully select the patients who are eligible for these interventions and avoid the complications
